Admissions Counselor (PEL)

Description:Coordinates all activities related to the admissions and recruitment functions of an off-campus location.

 

Duties:1. Represent the Program for Experienced Learners (PEL) for the recruitment/marketing process in the Tampa service area.

2. Participate with the Director of Admissions and the Tampa Director in the planning of the recruitment strategy for the Tampa service areas.

3. Conduct information meetings with prospective students at on-site and off-site locations.

4. Visit employers and other organization in the service area.

5. Conduct admissions interviews with prospective students and follow-up activities associated with these interviews.

6. Provide initial financial aid counseling to prospects and applicants and coordinates with the Financial Aid Office to provide basic financial aid services.

7. Respond to telephone, written, and electronic inquiries about Program, and maintains inventory of admissions materials.

8. Prepare admissions statistics for each term and submits for inclusion in overall data reports as requested.

9. Assist the Tampa Director with on-going activities which assure quality services and educational experiences for all constituencies of the Program.

 

Qualifications:1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
2. Ability to communicate complex information with accuracy and enthusiasm in public presentation.
3. Capacity to function with minimal supervision in an environment requiring initiative and thorough follow through.
4. Excellent active listening, interviewing, and advising skills.
5. Understanding of higher education and the educational environment.
6. Good basic computer skills.
7. Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds, including students, faculty and staff.


Education (training / experience)
1. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
2. Previous experience in student recruitment highly desirable.
3. Experience working with adults in an educational setting highly desirable.
